When cutting in and out, it is gentlest on the thread if you hold the thread and the needle eye together. If the eye of the needle with the thread cannot be easily pulled through the fabric, twist the eye of the needle slightly between your thumb and forefinger and turn it upwards through the fabric… like a screw…
